    The most medals won by one individual during an entire Olympic career. Larissa Latynina, a gymnast for the Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s, captured nine golds, five silvers and four bronzes. Swimmer Michael Phelps has a total of 15 (14 golds, one silver) after winning his eighth Beijing gold Saturday. Latynina's record should fall to Phelps at the 2012 Games in London, when Phelps will still be only 27 years old.

    BEIJING — The West African nation of Mali lost 76-72 to New Zealand in its inaugural appearance in Olympic basketball Saturday, playing with the fumbling hands of a diner on a first encounter with chopsticks. Still, Mali scored valuable points for the continued emergence of women at the Games that once shunned them entirely.

When seniors Keenan Burton, Steve Johnson, Jacob Tamme and Rafael Little graduated to the NFL they took most of the remaining 68 percent of last season's receptions with them. If you're looking for a unit to watch during fall camp and early this season, this is the group that could make or break the UK offense. Wide receiver Dicky Lyons Jr. caught 56 balls last season and running back Tony Dixon 13 but nobody else had more than seven receptions.
