The folks at Lexington's Griffin Gate Marriott Resort . Spa spotted a trend and jumped right on it.

"I think we are the first ones to do this in Lexington," says J. Malia Reid , the spa operator.

Reid noticed that more Marriott guests were traveling with their dogs so she had an idea: Why not provide massages for travel-weary dogs just like the spa does for travel-weary people?

Why not, indeed.

Like the old song says, .All the men will cheer and the boys will shout, the ladies they will all turn out. when the No. 66 Hunt Brothers Chevrolet rolls into Paris on Aug. 26 and Frankfort on Aug. 27.

Some will turn out to see a new addition to NASCAR racing while others will stop by for the prizes, like gasoline and Hunt Brothers Pizza .

Either way, the No. 66 Chevy represents more than just food and fuel to a company that calls Paris and Nashville its home bases.

No. 66 symbolizes the rise of a family company that began with the merger of four brothers. small town pizza businesses in 1990 and grew into 6,000 locations in 27 states in 2008.

Americans have freedom of speech . and William .Chip. Wood believes in using it.

Wood owns about 50 TireDiscounters stores in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

About twice a week, he sends faxes to his managers to tell them which messages to put on the double-sided signs in front of his stores, including two in Lexington.

New messages went up Thursday.

You may have read in the Herald-Leader on Thursday that Louisville's water had been chosen as the best-tasting water in America by a panel assembled by the American Water Works Association .

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson decided to use the occasion to have a little good-natured fun with Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry .

Abramson had UPS deliver bottles of "Louisville pure tap water" to Newberry and the Herald-Leader's editorial board.

An attached note went something like this: "Here's a taste of what you're missing. America's best-tasting water. Let us know when you want more."

All this was prompted by a proposal that was later rejected to pipe Louisville water to Lexington to shore up the city's supplies in the face of periodic droughts.
